Nelson Co. Library does have two books:
Register of St. Thomas Orphan Asylum Vol.1 and 2
Gene 929.3769495 Reg. (fairly new)
When I was last there I found them by accident and flipped through them. Most boys were in fact orphans and some "placed" there by parents and paid for keep.
Mostly from local homes and from Louisville.
The next time Im there I'll do a lookup for you.
