I need information about a group of men from Nelson County KY. Burr H.Duval was the commander of the Kentucky Mustangs a group of Kentucky Long Rifleman formed in Bardstown in November of 1835.They arrived in Quintana,Texas in December of 1835. The Mustangs were one of six companies which served under James Walker Fannin at Goliad, TX.Burr H. Duval was born in Nelson Co. 1809 son of Nancy Hynes and William Pope Duval. Burr was educated at St. Joseph's College in Bardstown, KY. Burr Duval was one of three brothers who fought for Texas Independence from Mexico.I could use any help or ideas about researching this group from Nelson Co.KY.. Any ideas on where to find the enlistment records for this unit would really be appreciated.Thank you!
