First of all I want to thank you for any help you can give me on my request. My project is concerning victims of the Browder Mine Explosion in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky on February 1, 1910. As with any small community of that period, I find that many of the families were related in some sort of small groups in the Browder mining camp. That brings me to by request for help. Among the victims was a “colored” miner named: Richard Henry Mason, born around 1875 I believe in Butler County. I believe his father was named Henry W. Mason and his mother would have been a lady listed as Galen A. Mason in 1910 in Muhlenberg County. The Tie: ----------------------------------------------- Henry W. Mason may have had a sister, Angeline Mason (also Henry W. Mason’s mothers name). This is the point I am trying to figure out and prove. Is there any reference in Muhlenberg County “Colored” Marriages to Angeline Mason born around 1858 being wed to a Joseph B. Rhoades? Is there any record that my tie Henry W. Mason to Angeline Mason Rhoades? ----------------------------------------------- Henry W. Mason and Angeline Mason I believe were children of Jacob and Angeline Mason Sr. My interest lies in tying Henry W. Mason to Angeline Mason Rhoades. That would make her an aunt to Browder victim, Richard Henry Mason, as well as being the mother-in-law to Browder victim, William Jones, who was married to Lizzie Curley Rhoades. Interestingly, I am finding the 34 victims were related mostly in groups of 2, 3, or 4 as family members. I appreciate any advice or help you can give and ask your help humbly at your convenience.
