Here is what I found on Ora Miles murder: It happened in October 1903 in Menifee County when Ora came to arrest Keene Brown for making whiskey. Keene shot and killed Ora. Keene then ran off to Breathitt County and took a job for room and board with a Mike Robinson. Keene told Mr. Robinson his name was Jim Rose and worked there until August 1904. In that month of August an epidemic of Typhoid Fever went through the Robinson family and Keene came down with it as well. Before he died he confessed to Mike as to who he was and what he had done. One newspaper account says Keene died at Mike's home while another says Mike upon learning Keene's real identity contacted the Menifee Sheriff and that Keene was arrested and later died with Mike getting the reward of $600 for his arrest. I've always wondered if Ora had any descendants who may have other stories to tell about this murder. Let me know if you find someone.
