Thank you for responding. I live in Lyon County, KY. I have Sarah Watkins marring John Bush. Sarah father is Washington Watkins. I didn't know his first name was William.On some legal paper work he signed his name Wash.
Washington was first married April 9, 1832 in Caldwell Co., KY. to Susan B. Young. Second he married Mary Hayes, October 13, 1852---Susan's parents were William Young and Elizabeth Humphries. Washington's sister Maria(b-1813) married Susan's brother Jesse W. Young (b-1812)m: May 22 1836 in Caldwell Co., KY. The Watkin's leave behind quite a trail of legal paper work in Caldwell Co. This is where I came up with the name Wall. In N.C. marriage collections Samuel Watkins marries Polley Wall Nov. 9, 1794 in Rockingham, N.C.-- Lucy Williams daugher of Aron William married John Wall and are the parents of Polley that married Samuel Watkins.(NO I AM NOT SURE)- According to a court record in Caldwell Co. Samuel and his wife Mary arrived in Franklin Co., KY. in 1795 bring with them several slaves that were a gift to Mary from her grandfather Aron Williams of Rockingham, N.C. The same paper states that Samuel and Mary went to Maury Co., TN. abt. 1805. They arrived in Caldwell Co., KY. about 1812.-
John and Thomas Watkins sons of Absalom Watkins of Franklin Co., KY.are the ones that testified against Samuel Watkins for selling the slaves that belonged to Mary. On legal papers she sometimes signs Polley. Samuel died in Gallatin Co., IL.-(--I have Wm. Watkins b: abt: 1720 in Virginia and Sarah unknown. - Children are Absalom b. abt.1744, JOHN b.abt. 1740 married MARY GREGORY - Reuben and Sarah. Children of John And Mary Gregory Watkins are Sally m. Daniel Norville 1808 in Franklin Co. KY. Gregory b. 1767 in Halifax, VA. and Samuel b. 1768 in VA. The above is not fully verified. Samuel and Mary's Watkins daughter Mary b. 1807 in Maury Co., TN. married John Thorp. Washington gave permission for his sister Mary to marry John Thorp Nov. 11, 1836 in Caldwell Co. John and Mary Watkins Thorp are my gg- grandparents. Hope to hear from you. Melva
