It appears we may have some of the same names in our Owens family.
My grandfather was Edgar Walter Owens, one of many sons of John Owens and Sally Eastham. John as I understand it was married a second time in Arkansas to an "Eva" unknown maiden name. John's parents were Jesse and (my father has written down Nancy Jane Cavin) but what I am finding is that the census may have her listed at Matilda. My Dad had Jesse being born around 1839, John born around 1869. Edgar in 1898.
I too have been looking for the Cherokee link.
