The information I found was found in census records, marriage records, death records, etc....It was NOT found in someones family history posted online.

John Henry Liles was not listed in the actual census records as adopted son. He was listed as a Son of Mary. The part that listed him as Adopted Son in the INDEX only was a mistake on the part of the census transcriber.

I am 99.99999999% sure this is the family you are looking for.

I am 1000000000% sure you were on the wrong track before with Francis Liles.

I do believe Charlotte got confused regarding the Maiden name of John's mother. Let's remember that she was giving this information after her husband died from burning to death.

I tracked this family from the names you provided. Starting with the most recent and then backtracked.
