Thanks for the information.
I had found the Ellis Carter information, but I am trying to reconcile the dates of this. I know with certainty that my great grandmother (Nora Gertrude Neal) was born in either 1882 or 1887 (one is obviously a typo or transcription error). Some family records indicate 1882 but the Social Security Death Index lists her dob as 4 FEB 1887, as do the 1910, 1920 and 1930 census.
She married Lewis Jefferson Rairdon in 1908.
If this Emma Kinslow/Goodwin/Carter (b 1877) is her mother, then she was only 10 Nora was born.
That just does not work.
