Liz, Thanks! I overlooked the possibility that the Wm. T. Cardwell listed in 1920 could be Warner Taylor Cardwell. I'm intrigued with this second family -- never discussed by my family. (Hmmm. Wonder what kind of scandal was wrought by his divorce back when such things were scandalous?) The 1920 census lists both of his parents as born in Indiana, but all other references I've seen say his father was born in Ky. and his mother in Ireland. I'll need to check that out. Also intriguing that a daughter of this second marriage is named "Ellender," which could be a misspelling of Warner Taylor's mother's name "Elleanor." On the death of Warner Taylor & Mary E. Lewis's youngest daughter Gertrude: She died when Carl was about a month old, but I've heard she was kiilled by a lightening strike in or near her home. Unconfirmed so far. Thanks for all of the great info. I can hardly wait to get to the Muhlenberg County gen. library and look for details! Fran Notify Administrator about this message?
