William Southard/Southern, b. abt 1851 in Kentucky

I'm looking for information on William Southard b.abt 1851 in Kentucky. According to census records William's father was born in NC and his mother in KY. William Southard married Nancy Pitman/Pittman in Rockcastle Co., KY. William and Nancy had 2 children that I know of: Mary J. and James (my gg grandfather). James Southard married Mary Elizabeth Bradley. I've been told that William may be the son of Allen SOUTHERN and Sarah Wood/Ward. Any information at all would be greatly appreciated.
