I am looking for the parents and other information about Benjamin Wilson from Cape Girardeau, Cape Girardeau, Missouri. I have all the information leading up to Benjamin but can not for the life of me push past him. I can find Parish Green and William B Wilson on census but I am having trouble with Ben. The information I have gathered is from a book called History of Southeast Missouri. In the part of the book it gives me some information about Benjamin.

The book says Benjamin was born 1791 in VA. He was taken by his parents to Kentucky when he was 3 years old (1794/5). In 1810 the parents came to Missouri and settled first on the Saint Francois river, near Indian Ford, about five miles west of the present site of Puxico. Later improving a farm near Jackson, Cape Girardeau County.

It then goes on to say that Benjamin married a Miss. Johnson and settled in Perryville, Perry County, where he kept a hotel for a number of years. There his wife died, leaving 3 daughters and a son, John, who is living in Texas.

He married for his second wife (And the line my family is part of) in Perry County, Virgina Bull who was born in North Carolina in 1749, and died in Cape Girardeau Missouri in 1845 leaving two children Willaim B. and Parrish (Parish) Green Wilson.

Benjamin was an active member of the Missionary Baptist church. In his earlier life he was a wig, and in later years was a stanch Democrate. Druing the Civil war he sympathized with the South. He had formerly been a slave owner, but had given his slaves to his older children prior to the wara, later giving his two younger sons their equivalnt in money.

He lived to a ripe old age, passing away in 1870. His second wife, who was a widow when he married her, had two children by her first husband, and came with them and her brother and sister to Missouri.

Now after re-reading this part of the book for the 100th time I have knowticed that there are some date errors in it.

Also the information about Benjamin is writen under Parrish Green Wilson. It then goes on talking about Ben Wilson and John P. LaRue.

Like I said above I have looked in Kentucky and VA for Benjamin and can not find him. I can find William and Parish in the Census. I would also like to know the author of this book for I can not find it.

Thank you for all your help.
