I'm searching for information about my 3G-grandfather, Wilson Salmon, and his family in Mercer Co. KY. What is known about Wilson's life in Mercer Co. so far: 1. Wilson was born around 1822 in Mercer Co. His parents are unknown, but it is possible that an early settler in Mercer Co, James Salmon, is his father or uncle. James is listed as a head of household in the 1830 and 1850 censuses of Mercer Co, the latter showing his age to be 77 at that time. 2. Wilson married his first wife, Dorcas Christerson (or Christison) on 19 Nov 1844 in Mercer Co. Dorcas' parents are unknown, but there are two Christison heads of households listed in the 1830 census of Mercer Co.: Issac and John. 3. Wilson and Dorcas had at least eight children between 1845 and 1858, possibly all in Mercer Co.: William, Lavina, James, Jesse, Ed, Nana, Asbery and Ostom. 4. It is believed that Dorcas died sometime before 1858, possibly in Mercer Co. Her burial location is unknown. Wilson moved to Martin Co IN and remarried to my 3G-grandmother, Jane Rogers, there on 23 Dec 1858. Any information or leads about Wilson and Dorcas and their families in Mercer Co. would be appreciated. Regards, John Reid P.O. Box 7164 Libertyville IL 60048 Notify Administrator about this message?
