Hi Barbara,
I too, am looking for the parents of Hugh Smith. These Smiths lived next to my 2nd great grandfather, Robert Simpson in the Northern part of Mercer Co. in 1810. This whole family would move to Ralls County, MO in abt. 1823.
I did find a Hugh Smith in Bucks Co., PA, who was said to be of Scots-Irish origin. My Simpsons are from Bucks Co., PA, so this maybe a match. Unfortunately, I haven't access to genealogical records, as the nearest library is about 200 miles away from me.
I hope this helps,
Sincerely,
Bonnie Simpson Valko
