Deals primarily with descendants of Shenandoah Valley pioneer Jost Hite (1685-1761) who moved outside the Valley to various locations in western Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Indiana, Kentucky, and the Virginia counties of Botetourt and Hampshire (now West Virginia). Kentucky is the state most prominently featured, particularly the counties of Bullitt, Fayette, and Mercer. Jost Hite’s daughters Mary, Elizabeth, and Magdalena married George Bowman, Paul Froman, and Jacob Chrisman, respectively.
