Roberta, Thanks for the info. My connection to the Hales is two-fold, but I am not directly related to them. My great-grandmother, Mary Elizabeth "Mollie" Egelston had a sister, Rosetta Ellen, who married John Hale in 1890 in Menifee Co. KY. They had four children, Alfred, Byrtha, Mary, and Russell. John was killed in some kind of explosion in 1906 and Rosetta then married Charles Clark Day. My other connection to the Hale Family is through the marriage of Edward E. "Dock" Cope, son of Alfred Buckner "Buck" Cope and Mary Elizabeth "Mollie" Egelston, to Mary Hale, daughter of James Hale and Matilda abt. 1920 in Menifee Co. KY (or maybe in OK). "Dock", age 29, and Mary, age 20, are listed on the 1920 Creek Co. OK Census living in the household with his parents. I wanted to ask you about the Davis family mentioned in your message. Do you know if there is a connection between your Davis family and that of Lousana Davis who married Dr. John Fernando Cope in 1876 in Menifee Co. KY. Dr. John died in 1915 and Lousana died in 1919 and both are buried in Lazarus Bach Cemetery in Breathitt Co. KY near Quicksand and Noctor, KY, which was the original homeplace of the Copes before William Jackson Cope and Delilah Strong moved their family to Menifee Co. KY in the early 1870s.
