Marilyn, you and I have corresponded a couple of times before on the Alley family, and just this very week, I've made great progress on Nancy Moore Stanley Alley. Some weeks ago, I learned that she remarried in Martin County to Isaac C. Collins, in 1878. Jonathan almost certainly was dead then. I recently received a copy of the marriage record to Collins, but it doesn't say if she was widowed.
From there, Nancy moved on to WV. In 1892, she applied for Isaac's Civil War benefits. Found that record yesterday! I've sent already for an order form to get it, and maybe will learn something from it. She also acquired several grown stepchildren in that marriage. I've just started tracing their descendants, in hopes stories have been passed down.
