Re: Indiana Descendents of John McGuire B 1756 Ireland, Revolutionary War Pensioner About a year ago, I acquired some online correspondents who convinced me that a DNA test for a male direct line McGuire cousin might paint a clearer picture for us as to where to look beyond Southern Indiana for the parents of my 3rd Great-grandfather Alfred McGuire (1808 KY- 1870 In) {m 10 Oct 1832 Monroe Co., IN} Anne Jackson (1813 KY- 1882 In). All I knew from family lore was that Alfred’s father’s name was probably John and he might have been from Kentucky or Ireland? An older cousin-once-removed generously consented and we learned that he (and I to a slightly lesser extent) are descendents of subject John McGuire from the DNA results From this point, we (my correspondents and I) have anecdotal evidence that John 1756 and wife Nancy (Holden? No Documentation) had a son John (ca 1780 KY - ca 1840 IN?) and anecdotal evidence that this John married Lucy Hensley (1782 Va -ca 1854 IN) in Kentucky around 1800. Records are found of this family in Floyd and Montgomery Counties in KY. John and Lucy, subject to the limitations of the pre-1850 Census, can then be traced to Lawrence, then Monroe and Owen counties in Indiana. My Alfred first appears in Monroe Co in the marriage to Anne Jackson in 1832. I can only assume that he is the son of John and Lucy. Subsequent years they are found in Brown County, IN. We also believe that the following McGuires found in Owen and Monroe Counties are most likely sons and daughters (or close relatives) to John and Lucy: Elizabeth Jane (1805-1880), m Ray, m Evans, m Brazelton, Thompson McGuire (1811-1888) m Dyre, Polly McGuire (1818-) m Dale, John M McGuire (1819-ca 1900) m Evans, m Stevens, m Skidmore, Martha McGuire (1830-) m Harlow, Unknown McGuire m Ritte (Unknown maiden name). I need your help in documenting (or refuting) the evidence I've found so far and hopefully adding more facts about this family. In my searching, I have found and documented a great many relationships, which I will freely share through my Ancestry online tree. Thank you, Terry Linthicum Notify Administrator about this message?
