Seeking information on the ancestry of a Cox woman who m. Thomas Wideman (1762-1840) ca. 1805 TN or KY while in route from Abbeville Dist., SC to Randolph Co., IL. Miss Cox was the second wife of Thomas Wideman. Quite a group of families, including some McBrides left Abbeville Dist. heading north west through TN and onto Livingston Co., KY where they made one crop before pushing onto Randolph Co., IL, arriving there in 1806. It is thought that Thomas Wideman and Miss Cox were married in route to Illinois.

Miss Cox had a brother Absalom, who was also part of this group; he had 4 sons: John, Thomas, William, and Absalom, Jr. Absalom Cox, Sr. d. 1844 Randolph Co., IL.
Miss Cox died ca. 1833 prob. AR, at which time Thomas Wideman m. Rachel Meeks in Independence Co., AR
