I have a Wm Bennett will dated 15 June 1807, Barren Ct KY., witness Isaac Bennett. John Bennett and Stephen Bennett are sons of Wm Bennett. The will mentions 121 acres of land in Tennessee, on Camp Creek, Big Baren River. The land may be in Kentucky. Does anyone have research on this BENNETT line? Does anyone have access to land bounty records for Kentucky/Tennessee, time period 1795-1806?
The 1790 Ky Census has Bennetts in Nelson County, Fayette County; the 1800 Ky Census has BENNETTS in Franklin, Washington, Shelby, Madison, Clark, Fayette, Nelson, Fleming, Jefferson Counties; the 1810 KY Census has Stephen in Livingston Ct, William in Adair Ct, Richard in Franklin John in Franklin, Philip Nelson County KY
I suspect the William Bennett who died in 1806 may be from Tennessee as there is no William on the 1800 KY census.
There is a Land Patent March 18, 1784 Fayette County KY for Wm Bennett but not sure if the same Wm in Barren County.
Anyone out there who might have some knowledge of the land bounties, old maps, or Bennett research, please e-mail
