Dear HAM(M)ON(D)(S) Family Researchers:

I have amended my family genealogical record in an effort to eliminate all information pertinent to the Ambrose HAMMON and Job HAMMOND Sr. clans. You can view the revised edition at the following web site address:

http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/m/a/i/Jimmie--D-Mains/index.html

My ggg grandfather, John HAMMONDS, is now shown as my most distant known ancestor. He was born about 1760, place unknown - possibly Virginia Colony, and died after 27 Jul 1820 in Lincoln County, KY. He married (1) Polly (or Mary) DENNEY 3 Sep 1782 in Wilkes County, NC. She was a daughter of Samuel DENNEY and Sarah SOUTHARD, born about 1763 in Surry County, NC, and died about 1797 in Wilkesboro, Wilkes County, NC. He then married (2) Rachel Rebecca JOHNSON about 1797. She was a daughter of Thomas JOHNSON Jr. and Rachel (Maiden Name Unknown), born 6 Feb 1764 in North Carolina, and died about 1835 in Texas.

Question: Was my ancestor, John HAMMONDS, related to any of the following families (people)?

a. The Obadiah HAMMOND family of Knox County, KY?

b. The Major General John HAMMOND family of Ann Arundel County, MD?

c. The Nicholas CHAPMAN family of Derry, Westmoreland County, PA? DNA test results reveal that this familyís Y-DNA tester belongs to Haplogroup I1 (M253) and is an Exact 67/67 marker match with my family DNA tester. Welcome news -- now we need to locate the connection that must definitely exist between our families.

d. Did John have a relative named George Washington HAMMOND? A possible son or brother named George Washington HAMMOND is found in the 1810 Federal Census for Lincoln County, KY living next to John and his household. George was born about 1775 at Wilkes County, NC and died after Oct 1865 at Russell County, KY. He married: (1) Hulda WILSON on 24 Feb 1807 at Lincoln County, KY; then (2) Esther DAUGHERTY on 22 Dec 1818 at Lincoln County, KY; and (3) Julia BRISTOW on 23 Oct 1865 at Russell County, KY.

e. Did John have a relative named William HAMMOND? William was born about 1787 at Virginia or Surry County, NC and died after 1860 at Hempstead County, AR? He married Eve COLLINS on 30 Dec 1813 at Surry County, NC. DNA test results reveal that this familyís Y-DNA tester belongs to Haplogroup I1 (M253) and is an Exact 12/12 marker match with my family DNA tester. Welcome news -- now we need to locate the connection that must definitely exist between our families.

Please help me identify Johnís ancestors and siblings.

Jim
