Just re-posting an earlier query ;o)
I need to identify the location of the cemetery in which my 3rd great-grandmother Sarah J. Goodwin was buried. Her obituary was published in the Daily Public Ledger, Maysville, Kentucky, 19 March 1904, p. 4.
She was Sarah Jane (Hughes) Goodwin, daughter of Nathan Hughes and Elizabeth Groves; widow of Milton Goodwin, a Mexican War veteran. Other than a few years in Camargo,Douglas Co., Illinois, she spent all of her adult life in Lewis County and owned her home in Tollesboro.
Her obituary states her funeral was conducted by Rev. G. W. Howes at the M. E. Church with burial in the Cemetery of the M. E. Church, South. I have not been able to make a positive location on my own. I would like to locate the cemetery and her grave and possibly the graves of other family members.
Her son, Robert Goodwin, was buried in Lewis County, somewhere. His daughter, and my great-grandmother, wrote to me that he was buried in “Cooper Tanyard” – her exact words – and that he died when struck by a falling tree on Adcock Hill. These are all locations unfamiliar to me as I have never been to Lewis County.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
