Thank you Harold. Yes, it helps. Now, do you have any idea who the parents were of John Mullins, age 18, on the 1850 Letcher Co census, living next door to Rachel? I suspect he was gr grandfather of my mother-in-law. For years, I thought he was John, s/o Joshua & Mary Caudill Mullins, but the ages do not fit. John, b c1832, lived in Breathitt Co. 1860, and told the census taker he was born in Letcher Co. His wife was Julia Ann Morris, b c1832/34 in Harlan Co. The son of Joshua & Mary Mullins was born c1838, and was 12 yrs of age on the 1850 Breathitt Co. census. Thanks for your help.
