Another thought, Kathy - "Kains" could very
well be "Kings" Creek. Isaac Newton Fields is
mentioned in the book Slender is the Thread
by the late Harry Caudill. I seem to remember Kings Creek (Letcher Co.) being mentioned in conjunction with that.
