*From the 1870 Letcher Co. Ky. Census. Checking for a James or Samuel Hall about 16 years old. Middle names or mid. initials were not used in the census (my copy) on any of the James Halls. It will be very helpful in locating the correct James Hall if you are able to find the names of some of his siblings. A marriage record, which I don't have will also be valuable. In 1870 Letcher census,at visitation #53, this 16 yr. old JAMES HALL, was the son of Isom Hall, age 50 and his wife Margaret, age 47. Siblings of James Hall with age listed: Elbert,21; Henry,18; Susan,16 (?)a twin of James ? David,14; William,13; Edmond,11; Charles,8; Jane,7; Catherine,6. In the 1860 Letcher Co. census, I did not locate any possibilities for a James or Samuel about age 6. The family of ISOM HALL, I also did not locate. Many of these families moved about through several local counties including Pike, Floyd, Harlin and possibly others such as Perry Co.
*I also checked Frazier families under 3 diff. spellings. In the 1860 Letcher census, I found one possibility. Visitation # 485 family of George Frazier,b.Ky. age, 32. His wife, Mary, b.Va., age 29. They had a dau. Margaret, age 7. (I have looked in other families for girls named MarGUERite, and invariably I find the census takers spelling them as "Margaret".) So, if you haven't located her family as yet, this is a possibility. She has siblings: Ira,10; Phebe,8; Lucinda,5; Lodicy,4; Josephine,3; and a brother, Francis P. age, 3 months. All the Frazier kids were born in Ky. with the exception of Phebe, who was born in Virginia. I did not find this family in my 1870 Letcher Co. census. This is all I could find. If you need me to check the 1850 thru 1870 census for something else, please let me know.
....Sincerely, J.R. Hall (oh, by the way, my dad's name is James Samuel Hall)...no connection I know of as yet to your Hall line.
