Can anyone tell me anything about Margaret Hampton that married Charley Statzer? They were married on Black Mountain on July 5, 1907. They had seven children: Bryant Martin, John Dishman, James W., Rose, Eva, Cassie, and Mary Elizabeth. Charley was killed in an accident in a coal car while traveling down the mountain into Virginia in 1929. I found his death record at the Historical Society in Wise, Virginia and it lists him as a widower. The family story was that Margaret died within a week AFTER him from a broken heart due to losing him. I have been unable to find any info on Margaret other than the census info with Charley (1910 & 1920). She reports in the census that she was born in Kentucky in 1891, but I cannot find her in the 1900 census with her parents. Does anyone have any idea who her parents or siblings were? She and Charley lived on the mountain above Eolia. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
