I am not sure if this will help, but An Elizabeth Dougherty Hale born 1815 ( from Scotts County, Virginia) ( had a daughter Ruth Hale Collins) Ruth married James Madison Collins (Letcher County)(which is my great-grandmother.. There are conflicting records about Elizabeth Hale, and I do not know if this is the same person you are looking for. One record given is the location of the cemetery was given as " on a farm north of Copper Creek near Valley Creek". It is believed that this cemetery is referred to as the Dougherty Cemetery which is located in the Midway community near Nicklesville, Virginia. As based on papers which follow, the cemetery has many Dougherty graves.I am not even sure if this is who you are looking form but perhaps this is the correct one??? Twinkle
