States: Kentucky: Lawrence
Looking for parentage of Lewis Ringlesby and his brothers, Christopher, John, James, & Fielden. Lewis lived in Lawrence Co. for at least 20 years & was a justice of the peace there. He married Rebecca Burgess, dau. of Edward Burgess, in 1826 in Lawrence, would like to get exact date and copy of this marriage. He was listed in the 1826 tax rolls for the county. There were some other male Ringlesby's listed, probably relatives. He and his brothers claimed to have been born in VA; but, all were born bef. KY became a state, so am beginning to think they were born in Lawrence Co.; but do not know where or how to look for birth dates of the time period 1780-1792. Lewis and family moved to Davenport, Scott Co., Iowa in 1837 and was a pioneer there, along with two brothers. Two other brothers moved to Hamilton Co., OH around the same time. Have proof they are brothers by their wills; but, cannot find parents. Any suggestions of where to look for proofs in this time period in Lawrence Co. would be greatly appreciated.
