I have just received the DNA results for a Mitchell who was a 1st cousin twice removed of Sarah Elizabeth Mitchell. The results show no relationship to me, not even a distant one. I think I can safely conclude that the Kentucky birth records for Amanda Florence Jenkins and Ida Barton are simply wrong. I think we can also say that Charlotte Hembree Jenkins had no relationship with Joe Barton, as there are no other records to suggest such, nor was there any relationship between William Jenkins and Sarah Mitchell. Therefore, the mother of Amanda Florence Jenkins was Charlotte Hembree, wife of William Jenkins, as my family said all along. The Kentucky birth records are just erroneous.
