Knox County Genealogy Weekend

There will be a Genealogy Weekend event in Barbourville, KY on the weekend of November 14-15, 2008. It is free but to assist with planning please preregister with the Knox Historical Museum or by email to: Vgeesner@aol.com.
The schedule is as follows:
KNOX COUNTY KENTUCKY GENEALOGY WEEKEND
FREE and OPEN to the PUBLIC

* Share family history with fellow researchers
* Learn how to get started and where to find records
* Where? Barbourville, KY, I-75 S to exit 29, US25 E

Friday, November 14, 2008:

* 8AM - 9AM: Court House Tour
* 10AM - 2PM: Knox Historical Museum Open House - Tour and research time, http://www.knoxcochamber.com/museumpage.asp
* Knox County Public Library - research

Saturday, November 15, 2008:

* 8AM - 12PM: Union College, http://www.unionky.edu/
Partridge Campus Center Heritage Conference Room, 2nd floor (handicap accessible)
* 8AM - 8:30 AM: Meet, greet, distribute handouts
* 8:30 - 10:15 AM: Introduction to Genealogy Research
* 10:15-10:30 Break
* 10:30 - 11:30 AM: Local and distant Research Facilities -Mike Corey, County Clerk, Local Court Records
* 11:30 AM - 12 Noon: Brick walls? Questions?

* Noon - 1PM LUNCH (cafeteria offers lunch for $5.50)

* 1PM -Tour of the Weeks -Townsend Memorial Library emphasis on historical and genealogical records, use of Black Technology Center (room BTC 5122/5123)
