Hello, I live in Denver Colorado. I have spent some time in Wickliffe researching my Great Grandparents Smith. It is there that I located their marriage license on 2 Jun 1894. There was no information regarding parents or other family on that document. We have G-Grandma Smith's death certificate, but it did not provide any information regarding her parents either. But it is not regarding her that I am writing. I am writing to see if anybody might be able to steer me at all in a direction that I can zero in on to research Great Grandpa Smith. We found his death certificate for 30 Nov 1922 in Future City, Illinois. He was buried in Spencer Heights Cemetery in Mounds Illinois. The informant was the husband of his wife's half-sister. Unfortunately, the informant did not know much. Being given ONLY the information provided therein, could you please help me with who I might be able to look at or where I can search for a possible match for his parents? Here is what was recorded on the death certificate: James Henry Smith Born: 28 Jun 1864, Columbus, KY Father: Joseph Smith Other than death and burial information, that's it! I have considered that maybe his Father may have been one of the many Civil War soldiers who came through Columbus and Belmont in late 1863, but if so, his Mother should have been identifiable. But I can't seem to find anything to get me started. Would any of you kind folks at the historical society be able to help me get started? Thank you!
