Early Settlers to Henry County

I would like to know where and how early settlers would have come from to Henry County, Kentucky.

My 4th Great Grandfather, Robert Cameron, first purchased land in Henry County in 1797. He married the widow Mary Ann Worthington Shields in 1797. I have not been able to find where and when he was born. Would these early settlers to the County have come down the Ohio River and thru Cincinnati? or up from the south the the Cumberland Gap? Would these settlers have come from Virginia, Ohio or maybe Pennsylvania?
