Farmers in Harlan and Pulaski Counties

Years ago (June 1998) there were a few paragraphs in the Kentucky Explorer telling that the Farmers in Harlan County were related to the Pulaski County Farmers. This was a narrative by Felix Gilbert Farmer of Clay Co., KY from May 5, 1898. He stated he was born in Harlan Co., KY, on August 22, 1836; his father was William Farmer, who was born in 1796 in what is now Hancock Co., TN. William's father Stephen moved the family to what is now Harlan Co. in 1797. Felix said Stephen's brother, whom he believed to be Eli Farmer, went to Pulaski Co. In about 1888, Felix had gone to a convention in London, KY, and met an Eli and Stephen Farmer, along with their father, from Pulaski Co. Felix stated, "We then found that we were of the same family: Stephen Farmer ,Betsey Ledford, William, Lewis, James, David and John."
I have both a Pulaski Co. Eli and Stephen in my Farmer line, but cannot connect them to these Harlan Co. Farmers. If anyone can help me on this, I would appreciate it. My first Farmer in Pulaski Co., to my knowledge, was Joseph Farmer, who married Sarah Baker.
