Emily Jane Dixon Smith Duncan born March 25, 1873 died June 10, 1944

Mrs. Emily Jane Smith Duncan, 77, died at 2:45 p.m. Sunday at her home, 1142 Castle Street, Sciotoville, Ohio. She had been failing in health the last three years and suffered a hip fracture in a fall several days ago.

A native of Lewis County Kentucky, Mrs. Duncan came here from Kehoe, Kentucky. She was a daughter of the late Alex and Lucinda (Sarah) Dixon Smith.

Mrs. Duncan was a member of the Methodist Church in Kehoe.

She is survived by her husband Jefferson Morgan Duncan; seven children: Mrs. Sally Robertson of Galloway, Rt 1, Lawson Duncan of Sciotoville, John Duncan of Baltimore, Charles Duncan of New Boston, Robert Duncan of London, Ohio, Mrs. Minnie Grizzell of Columbus, and Mrs. Ruth Robertson of Portsmouth; 36 grand-children, and 41 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Church of Christ in Christian Union, Cedar Street, New Boston, Ohio. Rev. T. N. Kerr officiating. Burial will be in Rushtown cemetery. The body will be moved at 9 a.m. Tuesday from Gill funeral home to the residence at 1142 Castle Street where it will remain until the funeral hour.
