English Professor William Cooper, 1840s, Greenup Co

I have recently learned that my third-great grandfather William Cooper was an English Professor at a small college or academy in Connecticut before his migration to Greenup County, Kentucky. Mr. Cooper arrived in Greenup County by 1846, which was the year he married Martha Ann Barney (May 6).

I am searching for information regarding the schools and academies that were in operation in Greenup County between 1840 and 1850. I am aware of Seaton Academy and Greenupsburg Academy. The object is to determine if William Cooper obtained a teaching position at any of the institutions of Greenup County. By 1850, he was no longer in the field of education, since his occupation in 1850 was recorded as "tobacconist".

I welcome any followup to the topics contained in this post. Thank you!
