Does anyone know who S. H. DeSpain could be?

My fathers grandfather has been a hard person find any info on...

i was initially told that his name was Carl DeSpain, and that he was born and raised in Green County KY. But, he didn't seem to exist. So, i sent off for his sons birth certificate to see if he had an initial or anything that would help.

when i recieved the cert., it read that the fathers name was S. H. DeSpain. it did say that he was legitimate, so, maybe if possible, i could look up marriage certificates on his mother, who was named Mary (BROWN)-Brown-DeSpain... and who later married a Marcum. but would those exist for the 1880ish time period?

I'm babbling <<<it's late>>>...'

it looks as if he would have been born around 1884ish if that helps any.

if anyone has ANY INFO- please help- i'm starting to get frustrated again.

thanks for everything.
