I too am a decendant of the Scotts of Grayson County (Leitchfield)but am fuzzy prior to 1854 and maybe we could search together.
and have traced my grandfather Morris L. Scott b. 1896 to John E. Scott and Margret (Frances) Higdon-Smoot Scott in the 1900 and 1910 census.
John Scott Jr. (born circa 1871) was the son of William Scott who I believe was the son of John Scott Sr. born 1854, who I believe had another son named George.
It is fuzzy prior to that as there were two William Scotts in the 1850 census. One was William in Grayson born in 1827 and the other born in Jamestown? in 1828 to a William Scott.
Don't have my files here at home but maybe we should compare notes. You can contact me by email at email@example.com as that is the only way to be sure I get the message.
Also if there is a relation, my mother Louise Frances Scott(now deceased for over 40 years) told me that she was told by her father before he died in the Hurricane of 1935 in the Florida Keys that she was had some Cherokee blood (possibly Cherokee-Shawnee), which I have not found evidence of so far in the Scotts or the Higdons.
Contact me please.
