I just got confirmation yesterday that my gggrandmother's maiden name was Wright--Mary Elizabeth Wright born about 1857. I was surprised that her maiden name was Wright because my grandmother told me it was Kessinger. After a cursory search, I found a Jacob Wright and Cynthia Ann Kessinger who I believe are her parents. Mary Elizabeth said in the 1880 census she was born in Kentucky as were her parents. I found a birth record on line for a Mary E. Wright born in Grayson Cty, Kentucky, on Feb. 18, 1857, to Jacob Wright and Cynthia Ann Kessinger. Jacob and Cynthia were married July 11, 1856 in Kentucky. I just sent off to Montgomery Cty, Illinois, yesterday a request for Mary's death and marriage certificate. I won't know for CERTAIN I'm on the right track until I get those in the mail. But, all the dates and places fit as well as the name "Kessinger" which my grandmother said figured in--she was just one generation off. In the meantime, I'm going to find out as much about Jacob Wright as I can. Cynthia, I believe, is the daughter of James Kessinger, who is the son of Jacob Kessinger and there is a lot of info online about that family.
