Kennedy and Gillespie duel
Posted by: Ronald Howard Livingston Date: January 21, 2002 at 19:54:33

I need information on the date and exact place of the duel fought by William Gillespie and General Thomas Kennedy. It supposedly took place on October 21, 1794, and Gillespie was killed in the first exchange; yet various sources give Gillespie's date of death as 22 October. Did he not die on the day of the duel, or was 22 October the actual date of the duel? Or, did he linger until the day after the duel? Gillespie was from Madison County. Is he buried there?
