Hi Cindy,

Yes I think we are distant cousins. The Garrets and McWhirters were well known names in Scurry. My great grandmother was a Garret prior to her marriage to a Boles and one of her daughters, Lena, married my grandfather, Jesse Ford, son of David Lillard Ford. The Lillards were not related but very close. The elder Lillard, a preacher, married Jesse Ford and Agnes O'Neil prior to Jesse and the Lillard sons moving to Missouri. Jesse named his first son John after his father and one of his sons David Lillard Ford. David was born in 1842. He served in the Confederate Army then moved to Scurry in 1867. I am not at my home in Houston but willreturn on October 16 if you need more info. Do you by chance have any info about John Ford? Thanks, Don
