Thanks so much for your message. Sorry if I confused you. The pension app was from Illinois. His wife Eliza lived in Pope County Illinois across the river from Livingston County. I found John with wife and or family on the 1850 Census and the 1870 and on the 1880 Eliza was listed as a widow.
The pension was filed by Eliza she stated he died in Fulton County April 11th , 1876. It was the civil War, though he was only in a few months maybe three. i just find it strange she couldnt provide one shread of information about the death other than the date.
I thought maybe there was a tombstone or some rrecord of his death in Fulton County. From the census records he was born about 1819 thats all I really know about John Wiley.
Again Thanks for your reply!
Nancy Wiley Pichette
