In a book about Floyd Co., KY, I found this:
"Joel Jessie Elliott and Rhoda Click had three children: John Wilson, nicknamed John Dad. He was shot and killed in a bar at Allen, Kentucky in 1922; Rebecca Jane who married William Auxier and lived in Pike County; Julia Belle who married Shelby Wallen (Butch) and lived in Dwale, Kentucky.
The man who killed John Dad Elliott was sent to prison. On his release from prison he returned to Floyd County and disappeared shortly thereafter. It has been local speculation that the person or persons who hired him to kill John Dad, killed him to keep him quiet. Others believe he was killed when he demanded the price he was to receive for killing John Dad."
