I'm assuming that the children named in the will who were born before that date (including my ancestor Rebeckah, who was born in 1793) were the offspring of an earlier marriage. It's that marriage I'm trying to track down. If you have any information about that one, I'm most eager to get it...
My own surname (Sanders) is spurious. My father, Edward Julian Strzyzowski, was orphaned by the age of 6. For that and other reasons typical for young first-generation Americans in the early part of the twentieth century, he decided at the age of 20 or so to adopt a name that local Americans could spell and pronounce. He always claimed to have chosen "Sanders" at random, at the time of applying for a job at Montgomery Ward, in Chicago.
