The father, John Ringo was the 1st and born April 28, 1761 in Amwell Township, Henterdon County, New Jersey. John's parents were Cornelius Ringo and Margaret Switcher (possibly Switzer or Swits). John was in the Rev. War, serving in the Virginia Milia (1779-1782). John married Nancy Ann Harrison, daughter of John W. Harrison and ? Cadwallder. No marriage record has been found for John and Nancy. John Ringo died on Oct. 4, 1843, on his farm on Elk Creek in Spencer County, Kentucky. John's wife,Nancy had died before John. John had 4 children living in Scott County, Indiana at time of his death. Many of the Indiana Ringo clan moved to Missouri.
It was William Davis and George L. Ringo who changed their name surname Ringo to Ringold/Ringgold.
Cornelius Ringo was the the son of Philip Ringo and Jane Cook. Cornelius was born April 28, 1739 at his father's tarven house in Amwell Township, Hunterdon Co., New Jersy. At an eary age, Cornelius was in an apprenticeship to became a shoemaker.
