Campbell, Payne, Van Zandt, Freeman

I am researching the family of James Wesley Campbell, born 1848 in either Missouri (or perhaps Ohio). He married Jennie (Adelaid Jane Payne, born 1862 KY) in 1880, Fleming County KY. They raised a family of 10 children: Malvina (sp?), Eddy (Edwood?), Harry, Nelson, Elisha L., Elizabeth Howe, Mollie, Olive and Hord (Ahord? Alfred??)

Jennie Payne Campbell, born 1862, was daughter of James Van Zandt Payne (Vanzandt, Vansandt, Vansant) and Amanda Freeman. James and Amanda were both born in Fleming County KY. Amanda was James' 2nd or 3rd wife. James Wesley Campbell died in 1925; Amanda died in 1941...both in Fleming County KY. James Van Zandt Payne was the son of Mary Van Zandt and Zadok Payne.

I have found so much information on the Paynes, Van Zandts...but I am having trouble tracing the specific Campbell line of James Wesley. One "guess" is that his father was John W. Campbell born about 1820 in Missouri or Ohio. Census data is confusing because there are several James W. Campbells in Ohio, Missouri and Kentucky - all at the same time.

Grandfather Elisha L. Campbell was the child of Jennie Payne and James Wesley Campbell and parent of mother, Kathleen Campbell.

I would deeply appreciate any help with this particular Campbell line.

My email is barbarafroyland@comcast.net

Thank you very much.
