I am trying to find out something about Richard Wood (1744-46 Ireland to 1825 KY) who married Freelove Sweet in Fleming Co. on 19 April, 1804. The 1810 census shows Richard Wood (over 45), a wife (26-35), a son (under 10) and a daughter (under 10). This would most likely be Matilda Wood b. 1805 and Henry Wood b. 1806. Henry Wood (1806-1860) is my great-great-grandfather. He was married to Flavilla Weaver and had several children including my great-grandfather, Andrew Thomas (or Thompson) Wood. A. T. served as a major in the Union Army and later practiced law in Mt. Sterling, Montgomery Co., KY. He was married to Matilda Pickrell. It is possible that Richard lived in Mason Co., KY and was first married to Mary Wilson. He had eight children with her. RIchard is supposedly the son of Thomas Wood (1720-1760) and Mary Ann Cuttle. Thomas, in turn, was the son of a Richard Wood who was originally from France with the last name of Dubois. Apparently he left for England to avoid relgious persecution (he was a Huguenot) and later settled in Ireland. His wife is unknown. If anyone has information about this Wood family, I would greatly appreciate hearing from you. Kathryn Dugan Wooster, OH fskpdugan@yahoo.com Notify Administrator about this message?
