In 1829 the Secretary of War awarded Col. Abraham Bowman who served as the Commander of the 8th Virginia Regiment aka "The German Regiment", 7,591.66 acres of "Bounty Land" in the Lexington, Fayette County, area of Kentucky for his service in the American Revolution. Col. Abraham's residence was said to been on South Elkhorn Street in Lexington, Kentucky where he died on 07 Nov 1837 at the age of 88 years.

If someone knows of a direct-line male who traces his ancestry back to 1749 Col. Abraham Bowman and would be willing to undergo yDNA testing, please contact the Baumann Family Project Administrator: Marilyn Hering at: mheringtrees@gmail.com
