Pat, I am a 4th great grandniece to Alexander Gorham. I believe the fort you are referring to could be Fort Boonesborough, which is in Richmond Ky, right outside of Fayette Co. It is a state park now with campground, giftshop, and it offers tours. and it is a really neat place to visit. I remember going there when I was younger!! I can't swear this is the fort, but it was started in 1777 by Daniel Boone. Hope this helps! Linda
