in one of owensboro's newspapers, it states that chesterfield cox died at his home, near Owensboro, on march 25,1881,of pneumonia at the age of 40 years. he was the son of squire james m. cox, a member of the baptist church, and had served faithfully in the confederate army. many friends and comrades will regret his untimely loss, which is mourned by a wife and six children.

the newspaper didn't state where chesterfield was to be buried.
i know that his wife and 5 of his children went to texas. his daughter, iona jane cox, stayed here in owensboro, where she married daniel ranbargar.
