Mary Cordelia Gough is my GGrandmother and was born 3/3/1860 in Davies Co. KY. She married my GGrandfather Herman Sherman Gough and lived and died in Union Co. KY. I've been searching for her for over a year. Recently, I acquired her Marriage Certificate and learned she was from Davies County.

In the 1860 Davies Co. Census we found:

Gough, B.J., 23, SUSAN 28, Susan M. 2, MARY C. 8 months and Martha Monarch age 11 in the household.

I assumed that Susan and Martha are either Mother/Daughter or sisters. None of them appear in any subsequent Census records. They may show up in Union County but I'm not sure.

In Davies Co. marriage records:

10/23/1857 Benjamin Goff m. Mrs Susan Monarch

The "Mrs" designation makes me think Susan is a Widow which confirms the mother/daughter connection with Martha. I believer I've found my Cordelia and her parents. Can you provide any information about the Ben and Susan family, and the rest of my Monarch relatives.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Mike Gough
