In Reply to: I believe that I confused Mathias with the Matthue b.1828 in the following note by Michael Gough of 1225

I wonder if there are any records other than the 1850 census that suggest that George and Sarah Gough had a son Mathew born in 1828. I'm also curious about whether the spelling "Mathue" in your note was from a record or if it was a researcher typo (because the census shows "Mathew"). I'm still thinking the Mathew/Mathue listed under George and Sarah may actually be Mathias, son of James and Dorothy, born in 1829 - and that he was living with Sarah's family in Spencer Co. in 1850 because he was working on their farm.

The 1850 census shows the following people living together in Spencer Co, KY:

Sarah Gough 50
James M Gough 30
Zerilda G Gough 28
Washington Gough 25
Mathew Gough 22 (not spelled "Mathue")
John S Gough 21
Amanda E Gough 18
Andrew Gough 16
